The Min River is 735 km long, running through central and western China’s Sichuan Province. Its was the source of a great civilisation in Chengdu and ancient Shu Country (Sichuan basin). It is an upper tributary of the Changjiang or Yangtze River and its source is in the snow capped mountains of the Minshan Range.
Minshan Range is located in Sichuan and Gansu provinces and one its highest mountain is Xuebaoding (Snow Mountain Peak), sacred to the local Tibetans and Qiang minority ethnic people. It is also where the wonderful Huanglong and Juizhaigou valleys are nestled in and home to many rare and endemic flora and fauna. There are plants of high ornamental and medicinal value and endangered animals include the giant panda. |
