The ‘Citadel of the Women’ beckons with its well preserved exquisite and elaborate sculptures on pink sandstone making up the buildings and surviving structures. This small temple was one of the few not endowed onto royalty but the ‘king maker’ – a Brahmin priest of royal descent and spiritual teacher to King Jayavarman V.
It was a Hindu temple dedicated to god Shiva and the building dates back to the 2nd half of the 10th century. |
