Wangjianglou is the outstanding pagoda of 4 levels built during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) to commemorate the remarkable female poet Xue Tao of the Tang Dynasty (618-907). It means ‘River Viewing Pagoda’ and commands the view of the Ming or Jing or Brocade River which was the source of a great ancient civilization.
The large park around the pagoda includes a beautiful bamboo garden and remains of the former home of Xue Tao, particularly the well. |
