Tamla Mok Sok Wan is heritage property and declared a Protected area, It is a cultural show piece of folk art from the Cheju people. The garden displays 1,000 artistic works of wood, 5,000 works of stone in the image of human heads and 100 other stone features. According to the folks, the stones and trees are living here and each have their own tales.
Most of the wood collections were made from roots of Jorok namu which grows in the subtropical forests on Halla-san. They are left to rot beneath the soil for hundreds of years and the hard part of the roots left behind form natural sculptures. |
