The period known as the Angkor Period (802-1432) ruled by the Khmer leaders saw flourishing arts and great achievements in architecture and engineering. It probably reached the zenith under the ‘Builder King’ - Jayavarman VII (1181-1220). Various styles of sculptures were seen in the many great temples in ancient Angkor city located in current day Siem Reap Province.
