Within the shelter of the limestone pillars, little fishing villages thrive in parts of the wonderful turquoise waters. There are ‘stalls or shops’ on floating wooden platforms selling their catch kept in troughs of natural sea water. The seafood of fishes and molluscs are treasures that many visitors will not fail to be interested in or even resist adding them onto their dining plates on board their cruise boats.
Besides its scenic beauty, geological and archaeological interests, Halong Bay is noted for its biological diversity particularly in marine species. Many of the creatures are unusually colourful and larger in size. |
