A small community of aborigines still live in the jungles of Malaysia. Although some have gradually moved to less remote areas, many are still contented with their self-sufficient lifestyle in the dense tropical forests which are teeming with wildlife and other food provisions. They fish in the abundant rivers, collect fruits and hunt animals for their meat.
Some tribes do farm for food, grow vegetables and rear poultry. They occasionally commute to town areas to sell their hunted meat and collected fruits and vegetables in exchange for purchases in household necessities.
Their children have been encouraged to join rural schools by the government but response have not been encouraging. |
